Kirk and Ben asked me to do the honor of previewing their matchup this week, which I was happy to do. Then I remembered that I'm not terribly funny. Three word will help you get through this - lower your standards.
Jesus
the Moose at Achilles Heels, The Battle of Evermore ESPN
Game line: Ben 127.7, Kirk 101.5
So, I don’t get the Evermore thing, and that’s okay. Kirk clearly gets it, as, according to him, he’s never lost this battle to Ben. Nope, not once. Huh?
Don’t worry folks, this isn't a presidential debate, so we have fact-checkers immediately available to remind Kirk that the Moose took down the Heels just last year. Nice selective memory, Mr. Whitt.
Anyway, I look at these two teams and I wonder how one is 7-2 and the other is 3-6. Seriously, these teams aren't that different. Well, maybe when Jammy-C decides to show up, the Moose get the edge. But who the hell knows when that is going to happen?
I like the Ponder-Peterson-Megatron three way action in Minnesota this weekend. Call me crazy, but I expect a bit of a bounce-back performance from the young signal-caller. However, I’m really worried about Calvin this week, and Ben has no WR options on the bench if he doesn't go. It looks like Megatron is dealing with some significant injuries and he’s not practicing. Kirk’s Qs are less worrisome, and I think Hernandez goes crazy against Buffalo regardless of the number of snaps he sees.
Look, a healthy Moose nips the Heels, but the Moose is not well, so look for Peterson & Co. to lock up another victory for Kirk in this one, 105 to 97. Did I really just write that? Ugh.
I haven't been posting the numbers because I am lazy but I will try to get an update next week. It takes 15 minutes to put together and really I should be working. Ben and I are playing this week so Rookie will be filling in at some point to call Ben beating for the first time ever in the Battle of Evermore. That's right just as Joe has never beaten Chad, Ben has never beaten me, well for a least 5 more days. So yeah week 10 comes to end a bunch of our seasons. Let's see who.... Bruisers at Penguins: Belly-Chick ESPN Gameline: Paul 118.2 - Norris - 129.1
For those like me who are struggling at the bottom, you may not have noticed that Paul (7-2) has a solid team this year. He's on a freaking tear with 5 wins in a row. I know that I should have known that, but for some reason I missed it. Norris (6-3) had a great team but has been hit and miss over the last couple of weeks. ESPN has Norris up but I am little suspicious... #1. Reggie Bush is projected at 23 points. I know the Titans suck but 23 points seems a little high for Bush. #2. Andre Johnson at Chicago. He won't be shut out but still not going to be a typical day. #3. Paul has Ray Rice playing Oakland and Stevan Ridley playing Buffalo. I see good things from both. My suspicion however is tempered by Tom Brady playing against Buffalo at home. Belly-Chick has no problem running up the score on a team and neither does Tom Brady so I see the Patriots flat out crushing the Bills and Brady could score 1000 points on his own. I'm not writing Paul off in this contest and fully expect to be wrong, but my head say Norris. Mark the position in the drop down because this game should be fun.
Stick at Bear: Mr Sex ESPN Gameline: Russ - 85, Bear 113.6 Russ (2-7) is in a bye week so Trent Richardson, and Larry Fitz have the week off. Enter the dynamic Three-way of Darrius Heyward-Bey, Nate Washington, & Martellus Bennett. Nathan (8-1) owns Doug Martin and he is not on bye. I would write more but really what the fuck is the point. Nathan wins. Giants at Clan: Dirty Dirty ESPN Gameline: Doc 109.4 - Joe 99.7
Joe (3-6) why is Tebow on your team? You could ask why is Lance Briggs on mine, but then I would counter that at least Lance Briggs has scored more than 3 points in a single game this season. You could say Kirk you have 3 LBs on your team, and I would say Joe you have 3 QBs. Neither one of us can play more than one a week, and still we are hording at least one player for no reason other than we don't have the guts to ride with open slots on our bench like Norris. And by the way, Norris why the fuck do you have 2 empty slots on your bench? Is your team so bad ass they need no net? Either way your balls are bigger than mine. I need a Lance Biggs teddy bear to snuggle up to at night to sleep soundly. Joe apparently needs his Tebow blankie. Drop Tebow and pick up a kicker Joe. Get it done. Other than that I like your team. I have a boner for Mikel Leshoure and Jimmy Graham. Jealous that you have them and Roddy White as keepers. Your team is better then 3-6 but then so is mine. Doc (4-5) your team is good too and has great potential this week. Welker could break 20 against the Bills. Boldin could in his wildest dreams break 12 against Oakland. Redman is running against the Chiefs, and Rivers is throwing in Tampa. Hell you even have Bradshaw waiting in the wings. Joe has the names I want, but Doc has the match-ups. The Gameline is essentially tied because Joe doesn't have a kicker, but I give the edge to Doc. Oh how I miss the Dirty South.
Minor outpatient surgery this afternoon to correct my Schatzki's Ring, so I have to rocket through FAABnalysis today. But don't worry! I've got a trick up my sleeve!
First, hit play on this to experience the soundtrack of this week's auctions.
Okay, here's the trick...
Written at ~10:00 AM today, BEFORE the auctions processed:
Expecting a few big claims today.
Marcel Reece
This big (6-1, 250-pound) dancing bear has some of the softest hands in the running back business. He's a rare, weird talent -- a big dude without a power game, but with really exceptional receiving skills. The Raiders haven't been able to figure out how to use him well, but with Run DMC and Mike Goodson both high ankle sprung, Reece is the best (read: only) weapon Oakland has in its backfield. (Unless, of course, you count the supersonic speed of Taiwan Jones.) Reece is the guy the fantasy experts are touting, after he rang up 8 catches for 95 yards and a TD in week 9. I think the guy is interesting, because if the Raiders forge a real role for him, he could have good value even after McFadden returns to action. I'm looking for some pretty big bids on him today -- I'm bidding $15, but I don't expect to win the auction. I'm guessing he goes for around $20 or so.
Taiwan Jones
At least a few of us will smell bullshit swirling around Reece, and will instead make the move for Jones. Jones is extremely fast, but lacks wiggle, lacks durability, and lacks trust from the coaching staff. Plus, he's back to the bench once McFad returns. It might be a smart claim, but I feel like it'll end up being a bust. Expecting the winning bid to be in the neighborhood of $8-$10.
Emmanuel Sanders
Antonio Brown has his own ankle injury, but we haven't been told if it's a high ankle sprain or not. The high sprain - of course - has the much longer recovery. In any case, Sanders will receive the promotion from #3 to #2 wide receiver in the Steelers pecking order, and that's a big move to make. I've said it all along, I think Sanders has more natural talent than Brown, so it's possible he could take the job and never give it up... but for some reason, the Steelers prefer Brown. Anyway, my prediction is that the Sanders auction will get up into the double digits, topping off in the low teens. Call it $13.
T.Y. Hilton
6 catches for 102 yards and a TD, and he looked good doing it. Everyone knows that Donnie Avery was never anything more than a super-fragile stopgap, and it looks like Hilton is past his rookie jitters and ready to develop that synergry with Andrew Luck. I'm bidding $15 for Hilton, and I'm hopeful that wins the auction. I loved the kid in college, and I see Steve Smith potential for him in the pros, especially playing with Luck.
Dwayne Allen
Another case where the rising tide of Andrew Luck figures to raise all boats. Most expected Coby Fleener to be the tight end to own in Indy, but he's been unable to stay healthy, and Allen's well-rounded package of goods has emerged as the beneficiary. $10 or $11 should buy someone a nice young tight end with a few "boom" games left in him this season.
Chris Ivory
They keep trying to bury the guy, but he just keeps rising up when the players in front of him get hurt. When he gets on the field, Ivory always looks pretty good. I wish the Saints would trade him to Cincinnati. For the CKL, this is a shot in the dark. How long is Sproles out? How many touches will Ivory share with Pierre Thomas and Mark Ingram? Will the Saints ever bother trying to run at all? It's a spotty situation. But Ivory will go to someone for more than a $5 bid as a smart speculative add.
Danario Alexander
The Chargers have nothing but a load of dogshit at wide receiver. None are any good, but Alexander and his faberge knees is the shitty WR du jour for the Bolts. One of us will go for the sucker $5 bid after reading Norvel's quote about getting Alexander the ball. ("Danario's going to play. We're going to play him. He's going to be a big part of what we do. He earned that right.")
Jake Locker
He's almost back, and people still love his potential. He's a $5 claim today, I'm guessing.
Here's what actually happened in today's FAAB action... Sorry guys, gotta go fast today...

12 cash claims

$8.67 per cash claim
T.Y. Hilton -- $26 to Chad dropped: Robbie Gould / other bids: $15 to Kendall, $7 to Joe, $4 to Norris
Entering this bidding session, Chad had the second-biggest bankroll, so I'm glad he found a player worth spending on. Like I said above, I love Hilton. On the OO-Dad, he looks like the #5 WR, behind VJax, Decker, Colston, and Stevie Johnson. Chad has amassed an embarrassment of riches at wide receiver this season! Of course, when your best running back is Michael Turner, you need some juice at wideout. I'm looking for Chad to try to trade a couple of those receivers for a running back, so stay tuned!
Chris Ivory -- $15 to Alan dropped: Jo-Lonn Dunbar / other bids: $6 to Joe, $6 to Derrick
Once upon a time, Alan was able to boast the deepest backfield in the league. Then he traded Frank Gore and saw Maurice Jones-Drew go down. Alan is certainly kicking over rocks to see what he can find, and Ivory is a fine rock to kick over.
Marcel Reece -- $15 to Kendall dropped: Colin McCarthy / other bids: $13 to Mark, $9 to Derrick, $9 to Paul, $7 to Joe, $5 to Norris
You know when you have a somewhat bad hand in Texas Hold'em, but there are possibilities, and you want to see the flop just to be sure? You'll pay the big blind and call any raises sometimes. That's what just happened to me. My hopes are high, my expectations are low, and while I can't believe I landed Reece, I'm excited to see where the hand goes post-flop. I'll probably end up folding, but you never know...
Emmanuel Sanders -- $11 to Joe dropped: DeMeco Ryans or Kai Forbath (tuesday drops!) / other bids: $4 to Norris, $3 to Paul
Nice move for Joe to back up his investment in (now ailing) Antonio Brown with Sanders. Like I said above, I think Sanders can be really good, and the Steelers are blind to be be favoring Brown.
Brian Urlacher -- $9 to Patrick dropped: Mason Crosby / other bids: none
You don't win FAAB by bidding against yourself, but you also don't win CKL games without a competent linebacker. Urlacher may be old, but he's still racking up points.
Taiwan Jones -- $6 to Joe dropped: Cary Williams / other bids: $5 to Paul
The McFadden owner, making a move for a potential McFadden handcuff. Joe paid less than I thought he'd have to, so job well done.
Dwayne Allen -- $6 to Norris dropped: Matt Cassel or Jerrell Freeman or Justin Tucker (tuesday drops!) / other bids: $3 to Mark, $3 to Joe, $2 to Russ
I think this was a nice steal for Norris.
Kevin Ogletree -- $6 to Ben dropped: Jacquizz Rodgers / other bids: $2 to Norris, $1 to Joe
Only assholes win auctions for Kevin Ogletree. All joking aside, did he just have another big game or something? 3-96-1? Yeah, I guess that counts. Good luck with 'Tree, Ben.
Dumpster Diving...
Donald Jones, $3 to Joe -- Joe's never-ending roster churn will sometimes include some really hopeless players. Jones isn't completely hopeless, but he's close.
Justin Tuck, $1 to Russ -- Steal.
Ronnie Brown, $0 to Mark -- Interesting free claim on a player who seems to be involved in his team's offense.
Michael Floyd, $0 to Derrick -- If he had a QB, and if that QB had an o-line, Floyd would be the cat's meow right now.
Sorry that I am also rushing my post this week. First of the month, Halloween, and my boss quit unexpectedly. It is what it is.
Stick at Bruisers: Fuck a Tight End, who needs them? ESPN Gameline: Russ 81.8 - Paul 111.1
This game is actually a lot closer than the gameline would suggest and Russ is (as much as it pains me to say) marginally better than I would admit publicly. I think it comes down to Paul has a better match-up with Baltimore at Cleveland. That means Ray Rice and Torrey Smith can do well, while Trent Richardson will struggle for Russ.
Prove me wrong Russ, but I am going with Paul.
Clan at Bear: Too Close ESPN Game Line: Joe 114.9 - Nathan 110.4
Joe's team grows on me more and more. He has a solid group of performers, but Nathan has a stacked up house of performers with better match-ups. Nathan needs big points from a few players, and Joe needs average points from everyone. It took me five minutes to write that last sentence because I can't spell and I am trying to decide between these two teams. My head says Joe, my heart says Nathan. I am going with Nathan because it's been easy money betting against Joe this year.
But to do that Rashad Jennings has to get a touchdown, Steve Smith can't suck, and RG3 has to honor my vote for him in our weekly poll.
Daddy at Penquins: Matts ESPN Gameline: Chad 102.1 - Norris 101.1
Matt Cassell is playing against Matt Ryan, so Chad wins.
Moose at Lasersnakes: Moose Massacre ESPN Gameline: Ben 122.5 - Patrick 84.6
Patrick good job keeping Peyton Manning. At least you'll have a keeper for next year.
Here are some other keepers I would suggest from your team.
#1: Matt Stafford. He's good. Yeah it's unconventional to keep 2 QBs, but you want to nail down that bye week.
#2: Mason Crosby: Yeah he doesn't have to kick a bunch of field goals with Rodgers punching it in, but he is consistent.
and then maybe.................hmmm................Ronnie Hillman......nah............Woodhead..........no..........yeah that's it.
Hola Amigos! Welcome to week 9 (see, I do know what week it is, unlike last week when I started as week 7). I'll also, ask your pardon once again for my tardiness. It has been a trying three weeks and I miss the constant reprieve of the CKL. Promise to get back in the mix soon and insult you all properly on a regular basis. But let's get to these predictions, eh?
Nth Degree (3-5) versus Juris United (0-8) ESPN Line: Nth -5.2
This week's fugliest game comes has Alan flexing Lance Moore with both Greene and Crabtree, who have shown improvemet, on a bye. So why not let Titus crack the lineup? He seems to be breaking out a bit. Lord knows Megatron isn't getting the looks. But perhaps Alan isn't into looks. At 0-8 he is already 5 beers into a bender and prepared to slip the hot beef injection into the fugly lady's even uglier best friend.
But Ryan Matthews has a sweet matchup and the Peyton to Demaryius (yee-us?) connection looking pretty special. Could this be the week? Will the scales of justice finally swing for Juris? That zero is starting to heat up like a cattle brand, Alan. You don't want that seared into your skin for eternity in this league. Break the streak.
Rook is grasping at straws to stay mathmatically possible for the playoffs. He has also started the "fire sale if I lose" talk on the smack board (and I have stopped my Newton is a beast arrogance as well). Sorry for putting that curse on Cruz last week Rookie. I really do think will score 15+ every week and that is my call again. Newton can always perform as well, but I'd be tempted to roll with Raplisberger's hot hand (you knw, the one he uses to sexually assault women - see you in hell, bastard, how dare you sully such a fine first name). Denarius (see, no y) and Gates will score plenty to help get the W
Nth's hopes stay alive and Juris fall deeper in despair.
Having been called the worst team in the league earlier this year, Mark has assembled a nice little rooster (never living that down Mr. Whitt). Vick, Forte and Shorts are all solid. Nicks and Brown are both getting more involved after an injury rest. Lloyd is on the bench, but the Cecil purchase make it inconsequential. It's nothing flashy, but Mark has gone to see a man about a horse and come back with a used car. Sure, it only uses 4 of the original 8 cylinders, but with a little more effort, he may be able to trade up to something that doesn't smell like hookers turn tricks in the back seat.
I love Canada.
Doc's team logo is appropriate if it were the last 10 minutes of the movie. You know, the Predator is bleeding day-glow green and punches in that self-destruct code? Yeah, you think you are gonna take Arnold with you, but he just runs real fast and jumps through the air at the last minute. You'd think these action hero film antagonists would learn, but there's Schwarzenegger again escaping by the skin of his gap-toothed Austrian teeth.
The KAG wanna play spoiler and I am sure it will happen a few times before the year is over. CJ1K has decided he wants to run fast again, which is always dangerous. And if those damned red letters would just go away, he'd have some serviceable options. I just don't think it is enough this week.
'Peens 94 - KAG 86
Pink Nightmare versus Achilles Heels: The Gay Fest..er Friendship ESPN Line: Pink -2.9
Ah, the Friendship: CKL's ode to man on man love. It is both a high and low point of every year, depending on your perspective. Personally, I love The Friendship and all its double meaning, pseudo smack talk. This year's original poem alone is enough to make me question my own sexuality, but make Kendall and Kirk's pretty unquestionable. I would say that I wish I had a friendship like you two have, but I have two rules about my male friends: 1. Don't let your friend suck your dick. and 2. Don't let your friend suck your dick.
No, I am kidding. I know it is all a joke. Besides, there is nothing in my rules that says I can't give my friend head. And beneath it all, this rivalry is important to Kendall and Kirk. And it is an interesting matchup this year.
Kirk continues to struggle despite his big guns and Kendall has defied all tales of his early season demise. Without bye consideration, you might even say Kirk has the better rooster. But alas, the Heels have both Hernandez and Gore out this week. Kendall's only weak spot appears to be at QB (and maybe flex), but if Freeman performs, there is no chance he loses. But Pink still has to be concerned for the big play ability of Discount Double Check, Purple Jesus, and Mike Wallace (does he have a nickname?). There is a chance, but I wouldn't put my money where my mouth is...which is not on another man's penis like you guys' is.
I thought about a whole Halloween theme, but it's kinda contrived and played out, so I half-assedly decided against it. But maybe I'll mention werewolves or something later on. Maybe a zombie nod. Vampire reference? I don't know, we'll see where we go as we go...

You know what's really fucking spooky? How expensive IDPs and kickers have suddenly become. Cans of beef stew at a Brooklyn Trader Joe's, I tell ya. Anyway, let's pick through the wreckage...
Tim Jennings -- $11 to Ben
dropped: Jackie Battle / other bids: $4 to Chad, $3 to Mark, $3 to Derrick, $2 to Joe
I'm not really sure what to say here. Not that I'm speechless, because I'm never speechless. But... what to make of this? With six INTs, a pick six, and healthy tackle numbers, Jennings is the #2-ranked defensive back, behind only Cortland Finnegan. But 11 bucks? Alan spent $6 on Charles Tillman (at the time, the #3-ranked DB) a week ago, so I anticipated a $6-7-8 bid on Jennings, and I guess Ben just decided to go with the $11 bid to beat out anyone trying to plunk down the even $10. With $58 to spend and taking on water after an ugly 0-2 schneid, I understand Ben wanting an elite playmaker for his DB spot. So it all checks out here. The fact that an IDP was our biggest claim speaks to the underwhelming haul of this week when compared to last week's titular motherload. So Ben went out and got his guy. That's what we like to see here at FAABnalysis. Confidence. Conviction. Lotions heated up in small hotel bottles on an electric radiator. Satisfying masturbation, standing up straddling a turbo fan aimed at your balls while you gaze down upon a semi-circle of pornography. Busting rocks, chugging beers, fucking chicks. Now the President & CEO just hires a hot secretary to blow him. This is what FAABnalysis is all about. Flexing nuts. Fucking rock and roll. TIM JENNINGS SONIC BOOM! Rail of coke off a mirror tray and on to the next claim...
Yeahbuddy.
Derrick Johnson -- $7 to Ben
dropped: Clay Matthews / other bids: $1 to Russ, $1 to Kendall
Welcome to the Ben Show, everyone. The Moose is on the loose! One thing I will say here: I think Derrick Johnson is a turdburger and I'm glad to have dodged to indignity of claiming him. So, thanks Ben. Also: HELL-BEAST will not be happy to see this insult of being unceremoniously dropped. Expect his revenge to be swift and complete... and come in the form of crippling Calvin Johnson in week 11. You have been warned.
Ironhide says hello.
Matt Cassel -- $7 to Norris
dropped: John Skelton / other bids: none
Let this be a lesson to us all. Carry a backup QB for your starter's bye week, lest you end up being the bozo who has to bid $7 on Matt Cassel. I'd say more, but Norris already feels bad enough about himself, I don't want to pile on.
Kansas City Chiefs, starring Rodney Dangerfield as
Coach Romeo Crennel and this fucking kid as Matt Cassel.
Wesley Woodyard -- $6 to Alan
dropped: ? (I think Alan just had an empty spot on his bench) / other bids: $0 to Joe, $0 to Kendall
At 9.5 points per game, Woodyard is the 2nd-highest scoring linebacker, behind only Daryl Washington. Woodyard is doing it with tackles, sacks, and picks, and offers a veritable pu-pu platter of delicious stats. The kid is tiny for a linebacker, but plays like a ball of butcher knives that has been shot out of a cannon. I would have loved to have had him, but Alan dropped the bills and earned his services. (Does FAAB make anyone else feel kind of like a John soliciting a hooker?)
Woodyard love you long time.
Earl Bennett -- $6 to Derrick
dropped: Brandon Myers / other bids: none
:crickets:
Jerrell Freeman -- $6 to Norris
dropped: Jarrett Boykin or Lamarr Houston (tuesday drops!) / other bids: $0 to Joe
In every even-numbered week, Freeman is either on bye or delivers a tackle total in the low teens. Welcome to week 9, an odd-numbered week... But yeah, smartassery aside, Freeman's numbers are legit. Meanwhile, Jarrett Boykin was rostered?!?!?!?? You Virginia Tech fans can really be pathetic sometimes, you know?
Justin Tucker -- $6 to Norris
dropped: Jarrett Boykin or Lamarr Houston (tuesday drops!) / other bids: $0 to Patrick, $0 to Kendall
Tucker joins his fourth CKL team of the season. He's a whore of a kicker who lures you in with a sexy double-digit outing, then kicks you in the noots with a pair of PATs to give you a 2-point week once you pick him up and start him. I've decided that he's evil and mean-spirited, and that I don't ever want him on my team again, no matter how much he looks like Paul.
See?
Alshon Jeffery -- $5 to Paul
dropped: Robert Meachem / other bids: none
Sorry Paul, but you really fucked up here. Not by picking up Jeffery - that was fine. But missing your chance to Tuesday Drop that pile of feces Robert Meachem? Major fucking mistake, mi amigo. That hurt your chances for CKL Coach of the Year in my eyes.
Robert Meachem

Geno Atkins, $3 to Kirk -- Screw you, Kirky. It's Friend Ship week, so I'll let this slide. But please know that it cut me like a knife. YOU STABBED ME IN THE BACK! Now pass the Friendsmilk, I need to take a chug.
Alex Smith, $3 to Joe -- Joe's like the rich guy who finds it fashionable to shop at the Goodwill store. You wily wannabe hipster, you.
Dexter McCluster, $2 to Russ -- I keep waiting and waiting and waiting for this little egg to hatch into something. Imagine McCluster playing for the Packers. Or the Saints. Or the Patriots. Or hell, any other team than KC.
Zach Miller, $2 to Chad -- Gronk bye week replacement. Ho-hum. But Zach Miller used to be really good, and it seems like he [finally] has a growing role in Seattle. (Did you see his amazing touchdown catch against the Lions?)
Shane Vereen, $1 to Mark -- A penny stock that just might pop...
Vincent Brown, $1 to Kendall -- Nathan, please know that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
David Wilson, $1 to Paul -- David Wilson, how can I hear you talking with my dick in your mouth?
Isaiah Pead, $1 to Norris -- Next level shit, right here. If Steve Jackson gets traded...
Emmanuel Sanders, $0 to Joe -- The day will eventually arrive when Sanders is a red-hot fantasy commodity. I feel it in my bones. But bench space is precious, and the patience to wait this out to its uncertain destiny is not something I (or Joe) possess...
I'm not going to waste time commenting on the rest of the evenflow this week. If you made a claim that wasn't covered in the above commentary, just concoct your own inner narrative and don't bother me with your petty complaints. Please. Thank you.
