A day late and a dollar short.
Mark Sanchez, $25 to Paul
Losing bids: $18 to Chad, $15 to Nathan, $12 to Kendall, $0 to Ben
I knew it was going to be one of Paul, Nathan, or Chad. Foles is out 6-8 weeks. If Sanchize is any good running Chip Kelly's offense, that means Paul now plausibly has a starting QB through at least week 15... otherwise known as the 2nd round of the CKL playoffs. What will he do in week 16, the CKL Super Bowl (if he makes it that far, and if Foles is back after 6 weeks)? Carson Palmer has the Seahawks and Eli Manning has the Rams. I still think Paulie is [at least] one trade away from a championship. Interesting idea: Acquire Foles from Chad. In the grand scheme of things, I still think the Bruisers look slightly weaker than the Penguins and Stick, but this team is still a legit championship contender, that got a little better with this $25 claim.
Allen Hurns, $23 to Ben
Losing bids: none
I considered "forgetting" to mention this one, because it's hard to talk about and painful to watch. Ben's on tilt. None of us like it, because he's a good person and a great friend, and the fact that he flies from Missoula to attend the live draft adds huge credibility to the Cavalier Keeper League. But Ben's on tilt right now, spinning in a slowmo Stormtrooper death spiral. Hang in there, Ben. Hang in there, and hang on to Russell Wilson, Jammy-C, and T.Y. Hilton so that you can effectively hit the reset button in the offseason and look to compete in 2015.
Charles Clay, $17 to Russ
Losing bids: $11 to Rookie, $4 to Patrick
I knew it'd be either Russ or Rookie on this one. I think Russ landed a decent starter, certainly one of the top-14 tight ends for the second half of the season. I have nothing compelling to say here, other than with this claim, The Magic Stick is now complete. Good luck in the chase, Russ. Back when we made that Cam Newton / Jamaal Charles trade, Russ said to me, "the days of being able to build a CKL juggernaut are over." I disagreed then, and I strongly disagree now. Because The Magic Stick is a newly-minted CKL juggernaut. Ironic, isn't it, Russ?
Kyle Orton, $12 to Chad
Losing bids: $0 to Nathan
Guys like Kyle Orton are the kind of players Chad picks up and then turns to gold. He's been doing it a lot. He did it last year, en route to the CKL Cup. I like this claim for the suddenly QB-needy Doub;e-O Daddy / Slime Dong / Procodile. HOWEVER, I'm not totally convinced that the now-surging Ryan Tannehill isn't Chad's best option at QB.
Mychal Rivera, $9 to Mark
Losing bids: $0 to Ben, $0 to Rookie
Peens have bye week issues at TE, and Rivera just put up 16 points in week 9. Not sure if he actually has an increased role in the Raiders offense or if this was just one of those fluky games you'll see out of lesser tight ends from time to time... but I can vouch that Rivera is a really nice talent who should be incorporated into Oakland's plans. We'll see what happens this week against the Broncos.
Matt Asiata, $7 to Russ
Losing bids: none
Ummmmm... Yeah. Matt Asiata sucks. Nice try, juggernaut.
Dumpster Diving...
Taylor Gabriel, $3 to Mark -- He doesn't even start for the Browns, but he's the WR producing the numbers. I have no problem whatsoever with this speculative add.
Richard Rodgers, $0 to Ben -- On tilt.
Markus Wheaton, $0 to Yado -- I actually really like this grab & stash for a team like Yado's. I'm not sure why Martavis Bryant was able to step in and eat Wheaton's lunch, but it happened. Doesn't diminish Wheaton's talent level. I just think we're looking at Emmanuel Sanders 2.0, so just wait until Wheaton is playing with Peyton!
Jarvis Landry, $0 to Joe -- I hated dropping Landry this past week, and it's why I wish we either had: a) 20 spaces on the bench, or b) an honest-to-god dynasty league. I hope this penny stock goes boom for you, Joe.
Chris Polk, $0 to Norris -- GHOUL!
That's it. Mailed it in. Again. Don't feel bad about it, at all.
Dynasty? Let's fucking do it!
